Objective:

To introduce Grade 1 students to vocabulary related to animals, and to practice using the question "What are they?" followed by the response "They are _______."

Vocabulary:

• Zebra

• Snake
• Panda
• Kangaroo
• Camel
• Elephant

Activity: Animal Identification Game

In this activity, students will practice identifying animals using the question "What are they?" and responding with "They are _______."

Materials:

• Flashcards with images of the animals (lion, zebra, monkey, snake, panda, kangaroo, camel, elephant)

Procedure:

1. Introduce the vocabulary words using the flashcards, discussing each animal briefly.
2. Explain the question-and-answer format to the students: "What are they?" "They are _______."
3. Show a flashcard and ask the class, "What are they?"
4. Encourage the students to respond with "They are [animal]."
5. Repeat with different flashcards, ensuring each student has a chance to participate.

Assessment:

Observe the students' ability to correctly identify the animals and use the question-and-answer format accurately.
